PHILOSOPHY My teaching experience spans twenty-five years and in that time, I’ve had the opportunity to teach incredible teenagers who have inspired me to have continued faith in the future. I feel privileged to have a career in teaching and can’t imagine a more rewarding profession.

I began teaching at Walt Disney Magnet School in Chicago and stayed for ten years. I loved Disney, most especially my students, who made this experience extraordinary.

I then moved to the suburbs to start a family and worked for a private tutoring company until 2004, when I started my own practice. I initially focused on teaching SAT & ACT test skills while assisting students with the college process. I recruited, trained and managed qualified tutors, often my former students, to deliver the math instruction while I taught the English portion. I observed that students needed basic test skills, but equally as important they needed strategies to better cope with the everyday pressures of high school life.

I had been introduced to the benefits of breath control through my yoga teacher certification program and realized that mindful breathing exercises would be beneficial to my students.

I began integrating mindfulness exercises into my tutoring practice as well as presenting workshops to area high schools. I continue to research the neuroscience supporting the many benefits of breath control. My hope is to create a platform that shares information and teaches mindfulness skills to better prepare students for all aspects of life.
